The basic rate will be 30 paise per 20kb after the validity period or free limit has expired
Today, Airtel announced 3G services in Mumbai, Maharashtra and Goa telecom circles and has offered different plans based on time and usage.
The cost of Airtel 3G services is 30 paise per 20 kb for both prepaid and post paid. Now we're trying to analyze how much will it cost you eventually. These rates would be applicable once your validity period has expired or your free limit has been crossed. Assuming that there wouldn't be any activation charges involved, Airtel 3G tariffs at 30 paise for 20kb amounts to approximately Rs. 15,000 for 1 GB. Well, I used the Wolfram Alpha website for performing this calculation and the equation can be found here.
Vodafone had recently launched 3G services in Delhi and Only Gizmos analyzed that considering that the service provider charged 10 paise per 10 kb, it would eventually cost Rs. 10,000 per GB.
Needless to say that Airtel 3G tariff plans calculated at 30p/20kb are indeed a bit costly compared to the Vodafone 3G plans in Delhi. So if you plan to be lavish with your data usage over 3G networks, be ready to pay your bills accordingly. Else wait for better plans to come out.
As per the records, Reliance has already launched 3G services in Mumbai and Vodafone is expected to launch 3G services in Mumbai by the end of this month.
